Maple Johnnycake (Corn Bread)

Maple Johnnycake
Ingredients: 
  • ½ cups yellow corn meal
  • ¾ cup of King Arthur Flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 tablespoons melted unsalted Cabot butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ cup Maple Syrup (Grade B recommended)
  • ½ cup of milk
Directions: 

Preheat oven to 400º.

  1. Mix dry ingredients, set aside. 
  2. Melt butter; add milk, syrup and egg. 
  3. Mix with dry ingredients just to moisten.


Bake in buttered cornstick or muffin pans 12-15 minutes, or 8" X 8" baking pan for 18-20 minutes.

Best served with Morse Farm pure Vermont Maple Syrup or Morse Farm Maple Cream.
